Students will be given tools and information necessary to pursue different career options in the field of makeup artistry. Students are encouraged to bring any portfolio or other promotional work for analysis, review and critique.

This course can be used as 4 hours towards Continuing Education. Make Up First® is an approved sponsor under the IL Barber Act.

In this four-hour course, students will be given tools and information necessary to pursue their different career options in the field of makeup artistry. As part of the class, each student is provided with a large binder, which includes all information required with respect to branding, organizing and running a successful business.

  • Quoting, confirming and invoicing fees
  • Advertising the business
  • Social media and the makeup artist
  • How to conduct private lessons
  • How to obtain a reseller’s tax ID number
  • Private Label Cosmetics
  • Resources for replenishing the makeup kit
  • How to receive the artist discount from a variety of product lines
  • How and where to intern
  • References for study.
