This course is designed for those students who want to take an intensive, one-week program combining Basic Makeup I and Basic Makeup II.

As with Basic Makeup I, the instructors will discuss and show the contents of a complete makeup artist kit. Basic Makeup I begins with information and rules/procedures regarding hygiene and sanitation to prevent cross-contamination, which may lead to infection. Proper hygiene and sanitation practices will be introduced in Basic I and carried throughout all courses taught at the School. Skin types will be identified and prepped (for foundation) accordingly. Following an introduction to color and light theory, various foundations will be selected according to the evaluation of skin type and temperature undertone. Students will learn the basics of facial anatomy, and will learn the fundamentals of eyes, lips and cheeks to complete a natural, as well as an enhanced, evening look.

Similarly, as in Basic Makeup II, the principles and methods of Basic I will be taken further in order to learn corrective makeup techniques to alter the shape of the face, as well as the eyes, lips and cheeks. Using principles of value (or tone/shade and light), students will also learn to use highlight and contour to create the “perfect” oval face shape, the desired classic almond eye, symmetrical lips, as well as “correct” eyebrows. Students will also have the opportunity to work with models of varying skin tones, ethnicities, ages and genders. Finally, students will work together on creating a unified look, using face charts and photographs.
